Homemade Hummingbird Feeder
The last two days have been beautiful here and I have enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard and garden. We have had our garden planted for about a week and a half. So I have been planting flowers here and there.
Then I just remembered that my daughter bought me a hummingbird feeder for my birthday, which was last fall. So I dug it out. She bought it from a crafter and I love it! I hung it with my hanging basket of violas. I hope the humming birds find it…
Isn’t it neat? This hummingbird feeder would be easy to make. I did find a how-to for this type of feeder at the Birds and Blooms website: A Bottle for Hummingbirds. I checked Amazon for the feeding tubes but they are sold out. I am going to keep my eyes open for them because these bottle feeders for hummingbirds would be great for gifts and craft sales.
I made a humming bird nectar by mixing 4 parts water and 1 part sugar and bringing the mixture to a boil. Then I let it cool completely before filling my feeder. Now we just have to keep watching to see if we get any visitors to our feeder! Wouldn’t it be great to get a picture of one?
