Leaf Rubbings
Fall is here already! And I have been away from the blog for way too long… I have been working on some projects and have found some great ideas to share, now I just need to get them posted.
Yesterday my son was wanting to do some crafts. I recently saw a post by Corey at Life With Little Ones and decided that this would be a perfect spur of the moment craft!
We went out and grabbed a few leaves off of our trees, found the crayons and scissors and got busy. Leaves picked from trees are not as brittle as the leaves on the ground, making them much easier to do a rubbing with.
We used white paper instead of the newspapers that Corey used. My son was not happy with how the newspaper leaves turned out so we switched. After we rubbed our leaves, we cut them out and started taping them all over the front door.
I suspect that we don’t have nearly enough (the windows need decorating) so we will be making some more this evening after Cub Scouts!
It was great fun working together, admiring one another’s work and talking!
I like this idea from Ginger at Deep Fried Kudzu as well! It’s another easy but fun craft for leaves. All you need for this one is an iron (set to dry heat), a thin dish towel, wax paper, scissors, and string.
We might have to give that a try too!
