Rediscovering Crochet
My Mom taught me to crochet many years ago. I fondly remember Monday evenings as Knitting Club night. Mom and I would go to one of the Club ladies’ house for a few hours of knitting/crocheting, conversation and treats prepared by the hostess.
I recently dug out my crochet hooks and yarn. Oh… I wonder why I had them stashed away?
Now that I had my hooks and yarn out of hiding, I needed something to make! I began searching online and oh my goodness there are so many patterns out there. I have made several items from the different patterns that I found. You can buy patterns, but before you do check out what’s available online first. All you need is a printer to print them off. And if you don’t know how to crochet, there are all sorts of learning videos and tutorials online as well
One source for patterns that I found and have had great success with the patterns is Lion Brand Yarn’s web site. Note: You do have to sign up to access the free patterns. They offer free knit, crochet and craft patterns. Check out other yarn company sites for free patterns too.
Crocheting (or knitting) is something that you can do just about anywhere. Carry your yarn, needles and patterns in a stylish tote and bring it out whenever you find yourself waiting. If your pattern is not too complicated, it is a great way to accomplish something while you are watching your favorite TV program in the evenings.
Here are a few of my recent projects:
